Open Week Comes At Good Time For 2007 Tar Heels
North Carolina's open week comes at a great time for the 2007 Tar Heels. For starters, Carolina is coming off a tough 21-15 loss to No. 7 South Carolina and had several players either injured or playing injured against the Gamecocks. Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks suffered an ankle injury that kept him out of nearly the entire third quarter of that game. He eventually made it back and posted eight catches for 114 yards. However, it's probably best Nicks has a week of rest before another tough ACC game at defending conference champion Wake Forest. Other players dealing with injuries include wide receiver Brooks Foster, who missed the Miami game with a quad injury, and Scott Lenahan who has been battling a calf injury most of the season. Brandon Tate missed the second half of the South Carolina game with a mild concussion, but will be ready for Wake Forest.

Now it’s on to spring practice in March and continuing to put the pieces in place of a championship program.
