The third rendition of a fund-raising golf tournament to benefit and honor the memory of several individuals important to the Tar Heel football and Lettermen’s communities will be held Friday, June 16, at Catawba Springs Golf Course in Hickory. The Rams & Rivals for Hearts and Hope tournament is organized by Mark Sigmon (1984) and will be a two-man captain’s choice event with registration and lunch beginning at 10:30 and a shotgun start at Noon. The tournament is held in honor and memory of Kaitlyn Morelli (Domo’s daughter), Luke Sigmon (Mark’s grandson) and now Trevor Lail, who was a senior at Bandys High School and a prior beneficiary from an earlier Rams & Rivals fundraiser who lost his battle to cancer in 2016. This year one of the beneficiaries is Colt Cowell, the 4-year-old grandson of Keith Cowell (1982) who has a brain tumor. Any donations, sponsors or items donated with UNC or Cowell as a designation will be given to this family. Sigmon and his fellow tournament organizers are looking for corporate event sponsors ($5,000), awards ceremony sponsors ($2,500), cart/beverage sponsors ($500) and hole sponsors ($250). In addition, they are looking for any merchandise, silent auction items, gift certificates or prizes that can be donated to help make this event a success. For more information, contact Sigmon by phone at (704) 489-8940 or e-mail at msigmon@peoplesbanknc.com. The event website is at www.heartshopenc.org. |
