Logan Bomar 'Kids Champion' for Notre Dame Game

Share |

Carolina Lettermen will have a special interest in Saturday's coin toss before the Notre Dame game in Kenan Stadium as David Bomar's daughter Logan will be the “UNC Children's Hospital Kids Champion.”

The 6-year-old Logan certainly has some rich blood coursing through her veins—her maternal grandfather being Don McCauley (1968-70) and paternal grandfather being Gayle Bomar (1966-68). Her father David lettered four years from 1997-2000 at safety and special teams, and her uncle J.P. lettered in 1999. Plus she has an aunt who was a cheerleader and another aunt from the dance team.

Logan has been diagnosed with a rare disease known as Pitt Hopkins Syndrome, which is known to have affected only about 700 individuals. Dr. Benjamin Philpot of UNC Hospitals is spearheading research into finding a cure for the affliction, which causes development delays, problems with motor coordination and balance, breathing abnormalities and seizures.

Lettermen are encouraged to support the Bomar family by contributing to a fund established to further research into Pitt Hopkins Syndrome. Follow this link at www.PittHopkins.org/Logan.
