The Hearts and Hope Foundation Inc. will again this summer raise funds through a golf tournament to support children and young adults affected by cancer and heart defects while also providing assistance to others in this same age range with daily expenses (shoes, coats, food, etc.). The event will be held Friday, June 19, at Catawba Springs Golf Course in Hickory. Registration and lunch begin at 10:30 with a shotgun start at Noon. The challenge will consist of 60 two-man teams of former athletes, students, alumni, supporters and fans from Carolina (RAMS) and all of the other ACC schools (RIVALS). Entry fee of $250 per team is due by June 1. Organizers are also looking for a corporate event sponsor ($5,000), an awards ceremony sponsor ($2,500), two cart/beverage sponsors ($500) and numerous individual hole sponsors ($250). In addition, we are looking for any merchandise, silent auction items, gift certificates or prizes that can be donated to help make this event a success. Individual and corporate donations and also needed, and any amount will be accepted and appreciated. Tar Heel Letterman Mark Sigmon is among the organizers of the event. For more information, contact Mark at (704) 489-8940 or msigmon@peoplesbanknc.com. “Last year’s golf tournament was a success and we want this year’s tournament to be even bigger and better,” Sigmon says. “ We need teams to play, but more importantly we need hole sponsors as well as donations of silent auction items and raffle prizes because these items generate a healthy return for our cause.” |
