Larry Muschamp Dies

              Larry Muschamp, a 1954-56 Letterman and the father of Florida head coach Will Muschamp, died May 1 at the age of 79. He was living in Mentone, Ala., at the time of his passing.

            Muschamp was a native of Rome, Ga., and earned undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Carolina. He then returned to Georgia, where he taught history and served as head football coach at East Rome High and then as principal of a middle school. He then moved to Gainesville, Fla., as headmaster of Oak Hall School and then returned to Rome in 1986 as principal of Darlington Lower School. He retired in 1999 and moved to Alabama.
